Veneers vs Lumineers: Which One Is Right for You?
Veneers, Lumineers and "no-prep" veneers are often mentioned together, but they differ in thickness, preparation and results.
Thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of the teeth to improve colour and shape and close gaps — with a natural look.
Veneers are very thin shells, usually made of porcelain, bonded to the front surface of a tooth to change its colour, shape or length. They are among the most requested cosmetic treatments because they give a clear aesthetic result while keeping most of the natural tooth.
Porcelain veneers (such as E.max) are made in a laboratory and offer a lustre and translucency close to natural teeth, with high stain resistance. Composite veneers are built directly in the clinic at a lower cost, but they stain and wear more easily and need polishing or renewal over time.
They usually need minimal preparation of the enamel (fractions of a millimetre) so the tooth does not look bulky. In selected cases, minimal- or no-prep veneers are possible. We decide after the examination and smile design.
