In-Clinic or At-Home Teeth Whitening?
In-clinic whitening is faster; home whitening is more gradual. Compare results, sensitivity and safety, and find out which suits you.
Safely lightening natural teeth in the clinic or with custom home trays supervised by the dentist, while protecting the gums and reducing sensitivity.
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that lightens natural teeth using safe whitening agents at carefully chosen concentrations. It is one of the quickest ways to improve a smile without preparing the teeth.
In-clinic whitening takes one or more sessions at a higher concentration with the gums isolated and protected, for faster results. Home whitening uses custom trays and a lower-concentration gel worn for several days as instructed, for a gradual, stable result. Sometimes we combine both.
Whitening works on natural teeth only and does not change fillings, crowns or veneers. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and we postpone it if there is decay or gum inflammation. Some deep stains may not respond enough; then veneers may be a better option.
